When it comes to rodents overtaking my home, I have only one response and it’s not humane nor pleasant. They absolutely love hiding in the shadows, devouring stored items and leaving little taunting reminders as a thank you for your hospitality. You don’t wish these nasty things away with excuses; you evict them from your premises with known tools guaranteed to eradicate their existence.
Whoa! Why am I bringing up rodents, especially as we celebrate this festive season? For me, the enemy’s schemes and rodents crawl and hide out in the same holes. Be aware, God’s Word warns, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). We might think there’s a difference between the two. A lion and a mouse, but look at the passage again. “Like a roaring lion” is not the same as being one, right? Just like posing as a rock star doesn’t make me one any more than our enemy perpetrating something he is not. We know our Father, the Lion of Judah, does not go around dessimating or devouring His people! He lifts us up, not tear us down.
Imagine the enemy as that pesky house mouse in your holiday scenarios. Has the stressors of the season tried to infiltrate your heart’s home assuming a lion’s stance? Roaring out guilt and leaving droppings of family shaming? Has he rattled the rusted chain of codependency? Is he prowling around trying to pounce unrealistic holiday pressure on you to perform rather than be still and know? Let our Lion of Judah show you how to eliminate the real pest (the enemy) so you can truly enjoy the heart of everyone else this holiday season.
